The
Infant Room
Our infant room has a capacity of
eight babies and always has at least two teachers in the
room. The room is decorated in
all red, black, and white - the colors that are most appealing
to young eyes.
Each child has their own white crib with red
and white bedding and each has his or her own storage cubby
for supplies. The room is full of stimulating sights, sounds
and textures to stimulate young minds.
The
Teachers in this room ensure a
warm, nurturing, and consistent environment for our
youngest babies. |

One Year Old Room
This is the room for our "waddlers" who
are not quite toddlers. Many children will learn to walk in
this room. Others will perfect their balance and begin
to run. This
room is for children ages 12-24 months. The room has an ocean
theme with a beautiful coral reef mural painted on one wall
and ocean life all around on the others. The room features
a small
size ball pit with padded walls, a dressup play area, a kitchen
center, musical instruments, books, and toys of all sorts.
The children eat and do crafts at specially designed tables
that
allow younger ones to sit with the security of a high chair
while at a group table and the older ones to sit a very
low-seated
table with individual chairs that are just a few inches off
the ground. Children in this room are learning the communication
and social skills needed to move up to the toddler two classroom.
They are exposed to letters, numbers, colors, and shapes through
a variety of songs, arts, and hands-on fun. This room has a
full
time capacity of ten children and two spaces open for drop-in* care.
The Teacher in this room exemplify
the love of children that makes us believe that teachers
truly are "part angel.

Toddler
Two-Three Classroom
This
room has a farm theme and is decorated with
wonderful farm animal murals. As the children enter into
the circle time area the walls are decorated to appear as
though
you are walking into a barn. Other areas feature a big shady
oak tree mural and bright, friendly flowers. This room has
a full-time capacity of sixteen children and two spaces that
are left open for drop-in* care. The two-three classroom
is the first step to pre-school and as such it is run on
an academic
year. The children in this room will turn two by September
1st of the current school year and will turn three at some
point during the school year. In the following June they
are eligible to move up to the next class, Pre-K3. This is
a class
of transitions and a very important year. These children
enter as babies and leave as pre-schoolers. They will learn
the social
aspects of being part of a classroom and the etiquette and
rules that are expected in that environment. They will learn
to use the bathroom and practice good hygiene throughout
the day. The are introduced to colors, numbers, letters,
shapes,
discovery science, and language arts. They grow tremendously
as they learn through their play with songs, imaginary play,
and art work. The teachers in this room are masterful at
what they do. Their curriculum
requires two strong teachers to work with a team approach
to instruction.

Pre-K3
This
exciting pre-school classroom is an adventure for our youngest
pre-schoolers. The
class has a full time capacity of fifteen children. The room
is divided into centers that include: computers, blocks, dramatic
play, puzzles, art, reading, writing, science, math manipulatives,
and a home center. It is brightly decorated with primary colors
and fun furniture. In the Pre-K3 classroom children who have
been in our toddler two class are ready to begin mastering
kindergarten concepts such as writing, coloring with control,
phonics, basic geometry, math concepts, and physical education.
They learn through their calendar, songs, poetry, Spanish time,
play, experiments, arts, and teacher examples.
This class is
for children who turn three by September 1st of the current
school year. They will move up to Pre-K4 the following June.
The dynamic teachers in this room enrich the pre-school program by
providing lessons in science discovery and library time in
addition to their regular academic curriculum.

Pre-K4
The PreK-4/VPK classrooms are located in the upstairs portion of our building that was added to the property in 2008. These classrooms are beautiful, creative, and full of energy every day. The VPK classrooms allow for 18 full time students with a teacher and a teaching assistant. These are busy rooms with lots of skills to perfect as children prepare to enter school in Kindergarten the following August. The room is divided into centers similar to the Pre-K3 class experience, but with many new items for children to explore and manipulate. Every room has computers with internet access and educational software. Each also has a comfy reading area, a listening center, and a well-equipped art center.
The curriculum in this class was primarily developed by teachers and is supplemented by Houghton Mifflin professional preschool series. It is a thematic curriculum with Spanish vocabulary and phrases infused throughout the core subject areas of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. We are very proud of how high our students' average test scores are as they enter Kindergarten. |

After
School Care - (summer camp)
Playtime Learning Academy provides
transportation
to and from four area schools: Citrus Park Elementary, Essrig
Elementary, Northwest Elementary, and Claywell Elementary.
We open at 6:00am and leave to take children to school at 7:15am.
We also pick children up at the end of the school day and provide
full day care on vacation days. The school age children have
two rooms. They use our main room which is divided into several
play areas and has four tables for school work. They also
use our resource room / library which is adjacent to the main
room. The school age children arrive around 2:30pm and begin
working on school work. Our teachers are available to assist
and we try to send kids home with homework complete. We provide
a snack for them while they are at the tables and then they
go outside to burn off some excess energy on our large playground.
Hockey and kickball are among their favorite activities along
with climbing and pretend play. By the time they return inside
many children have already been picked up by parents. We close
at 6:00pm. The children enjoy indoor centers or a movie at
the end of the day. On vacation days we usually plan field
trips to keep the kids busy and doing something fun. In the
summer we also have karate, craft classes, swimming, and picnics
to keep the children learning. The
teachers in this room are always full of new ideas for busy days and fun Fridays.

Playgrounds
Perhaps
the center's greatest asset is its three playgrounds. There
is an area to take the infants out in a stroller. The one year
olds have their own area with a white picket fence around it.
The school age kids have their own fenced in space with a basketball
court, tether ball, kickball area, and plenty of Little Tykes
equipment on which to climb and play.
The largest area is reserved
for the children ages 2-5 that are at the center all day. They
have plenty of space in which to run around, lots of ride-on
toys, tunnels, slides, play houses, and much more. Outside
time is a favorite among most the children at Playtime.
Our
staff is well-equipped to provide better than adequate supervision
in the play areas and our equipment is all commercial grade
quality play things that are as safe as they are fun.
